Candidate List reaches 174 substances

PFHxS was added to the list because it is a very persistent and very bioaccumulative substance. It may be used as a plasticiser, lubricant, surfactant, wetting agent, corrosion inhibitor and in fire-fighting foams. PFHxS has not been registered under REACH.
PFHxS belongs to the group of per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFASs) which have been targeted for regulatory action. Several PFASs have already been identified as SVHCs, one group (PFOA and related substances) is now restricted, one restriction is under preparation and many assessments are underway.
